James Emmett Vann

Funeral services for James Emmett Vann, 72, of Lufkin will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rick Williams and Ray Vann officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Vann was born March 25, 1938 in Texarkana, Texas to the late Mary (Jones) and Hezikiah Vann, and died Monday, July 26, 2010 in a local hospital.

Mr. Vann was an All State football player in high school and attended Texas A&M University for two years on a football scholarship. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a consultant with Ray K. Vann and Associates. Mr. Vann was a member of Carpenter's Way Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beth Vann of Lufkin; daughters, April Vann of Arlington, Mary Faria and husband Kenny of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jinny Vann of Tampa, Florida; son, Tommy Vann and wife Charlotte of Orlando, Florida; five grandchildren; and brothers, Leo Vann and Raymond Vann and wife Sandy, all of Lufkin.

Pallbearers will be Rocky Thompson, Robert Grimes, John Ellis, Michael Redd, Pete Peterson and Aldo Castaneda.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Petty, David Terry, Dillard Tinsley, Randy Blanks, Jerry Black, Jerry Anderson, Bubba Estes and Bobby Childers.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
