Funeral services for Amma Louise Allen, 79, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin with Brother R.G. ""Bud"" Davis and Brother Don Grigsby officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born May 23, 1930 in the Fawil Community in Newton County, Texas to the late Mandy E. (Stivender) and Samuel B. Herrin, and died Thursday, February 18, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Allen had resided in Lufkin most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was devoted to her Pentecostal faith and Jesus. Mrs. Allen loved gardening, gospel singing and going to church. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Paul Jeane of Nashville; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Patsy Allen of Lufkin and Calvin and Kathey Allen of Diboll; grandchildren and their spouses, Rodney Allen of Lufkin, Tommy and Angie Allen of Shepherd, Ray and Alisha Allen of Lufkin, Jereme and Jill Jeane of Nashville, Ann and Melissa Robinson of Lufkin, Dee and Deidra Allen and Cessali and Travis Strickland, all of Lufkin; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Allen; five brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Randy Luce, Larry Green, Sonny Ashby, David Ashby, Jerry Gibson and Mike Neal.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Allen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin Building Fund, 3200 South Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
