J.A. Bryan

Funeral services for J.A. ""Bo"" Bryan, 87, of Lufkin will be held Friday, October 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dean Register officiating. Interment will follow in the Traweek Cemetery.

Mr. Bryan was born January 5, 1923 in Shelby County, Texas to the late Rocinda (Mora) and Fort Lawson Bryan, and died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Bryan resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and owned Bryan Stewart Builders for 53 years. Mr. Bryan was instrumental in the development of subdivisions in the Lufkin area, including Englewood, Idlewood and Inwood Terrace. He was also a rancher and cattleman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing dominoes. Mr. Bryan was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, James and Roseanna Bryan of Tujunga, California, Barry Bryan and Lynn Courtney and Michael and Sandy Bryan, all of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Suzette Gomez of Lufkin and Annette and Douglas Hardy of San Antonio; grandsons, Michael Gomez of Lufkin, Anthony Botello of San Antonio, Zach Bryan of Lufkin, Jon Daries of Boston, Massachusetts and Max Daries of Dallas; granddaughters, Kim Botello, Kate Botello, both of San Antonio, Aubin Bryan of New York, New York and Morgan Bryan of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bryan was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Bryan; brothers, Arthur Bryan, Brady Bryan and Doyle Bryan; and sisters, Valera Sharp and Edna Young.

Pallbearers will be Michael Gomez, Max Daries, Zach Bryan, Pat Weems, Anthony Botello and Bryan Weems.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
