Imogene Gilbert

Funeral services for Imogene ""Merley"" Gilbert, 68, of Lufkin will be held Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gilbert was born October 2, 1942 in Palestine, Texas to Louise (Green) and Harry Mullin, and died Monday, October 4, 2010 at her residence. She resided in Lufkin most of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Gilbert was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard Leroy, Jr. and Tammie Gilbert of Lufkin; grandchildren, Valarie Gene Gilbert and Richard Leroy Gilbert III, both of Lufkin; great-grandsons, Roy Lee Gilbert of Lufkin and Christopher Lynn Ligon of Livingston; mother, Louise Mullin of Lufkin; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul and Patsy Mullin and Russell Mullin, all of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Mullin; brother, George Mullin; nephew, Ricky Mullin; and dearest friend, Albert Edwards.

Pallbearers will be Levi Green, Paul Mullin, Richard Leroy Gilbert III, Jimmy Gordon, Jay Haley and Morgan Haley.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
