Funeral services for Evelyn McAdams, 90, of Pollok will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. McAdams was born August 5, 1920 in Doucette, Texas to the late Clara and Dewitt Hanks, and died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at her residence.
A resident of Pollok for 83 years, Mrs. McAdams had resided at The Meadows for seven years. She was a homemaker, and loved to sew and do gardening. Quilting was her favorite hobby. Mrs. McAdams was a longtime member of the Redtown Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Hollis and June McAdams and Donald and Beverly McAdams, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Scott McAdams and wife Joyce, Chris McAdams, April Brewer and husband Robert, Ashley McAdams and Rebecca McAdams; great-grandchildren, Mattie, Jaeden, Jazzlyn, Shelby and Jordan; one great-great-granddaughter, brothers, Binis Whitworth, M.C. Hanks and wife Ruby, and Willard Whitworth; sister, Alamyrl Hopson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McAdams was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Arvis McAdams in 2001; brothers, Hershell Whitworth and Narvell Whitworth; and great-grandson, Tristan Brewer.
Pallbearers will be Scott McAdams, Chris McAdams, Robert Brewer, Shelby McAdams, David Kimling, Waylon Blake and Jordan Brady.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
