Jerre Pope

Funeral services for Jerre Pope, Sr., 89, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bryan Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Pope was born March 16, 1921 in Paris, Texas to the late Hazel (Hunt) and John W. Pope, and died Saturday, October 2, 2010 in a local nursing home. He had resided in Lufkin for 60 years and retired from United Gas. Mr. Pope was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerre, Jr. and Doylene Pope of Fort Worth, John P. and Joan Pope of Lufkin, Tommy and Patricia Pope of Newton and Barry G. and Bernadette Pope of Lufkin; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie (Dyson) Pope.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Pope, Kevin Pope, Barry Pope, Jr., Sam Pope, Marvin Best and Michael Molandes.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
