Silous Simon Russell

Graveside services for Silous Simon Russell, 91, of Corrigan will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan with his son-in-law, Kirk Collard, officiating.

Mr. Russell was born January 28, 1920 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Lillie (James) and James Bryant ""Jim"" Russell, and died Monday, April 25, 2011 in Corrigan.

Mr. Russell had resided in Corrigan for more than 40 years and retired from Lufkin Industries following 32 years of service. MP PFC S.S. Russell served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942-1945. He loved to tell stories and was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. Mr. Russell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Corrigan.

Survivors include his sons, Jimmy Russell and Donnie Russell, both of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Kirk Collard of Lufkin; grandchildren, Angela Marquardt, Josh Powers, Stacy Netherton, Heather Knight, Danny Russell, Wesly Collard, Christian Collard and Jordan Collard; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Frank Price of Huntsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.B. and Betty Russell of Beaumont and George and Marilyn Russell of Wills Point; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Minnie Russell; grandson, Dwayne ""Spooky"" Russell; and brother, Arta Russell.
