F.L. Lester

Funeral services with military honors for F.L. ""Dudley"" Lester, 83, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted under the auspices of the Groveton Masonic Lodge #284 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Lester was born December 6, 1927 in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Hallie (Frederick) and Joe Lester. He died Monday, May 9, 2011 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Lester had resided in Lufkin for the past 13 years, and was a former longtime resident of Apple Springs. He served 30 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring to East Texas, where he enjoyed raising cattle and serving the community. He was married to Florence Lester for 59 years before her death in 2009.

He is survived by his son, Craig Lester of Richmond, Virginia; and brother, Billy Joe Lester of Groveton.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
