Nicholas Lamonica

Graveside services for Nicholas ""Nick"" LaMonica, 62, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Father Ron Foshage officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
A prayer service led by Deacon Gary Trevino will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. LaMonica was born April 9, 1949 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, to the late Rose (Alberti) and Frank LaMonica. He died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at his residence in Lufkin.
Mr. LaMonica had lived in Lufkin for the past six years, and was a former resident of Newton, Texas, and New York. He served his country in the United States Army?s First Cavalry Division during Vietnam. He was a Purple Heart recipient and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. LaMonica was the retired owner of N&L Electronics. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Laura LaMonica of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Janine and Jeff Awtrey of Lufkin; grandson, Adam Awtrey of Lufkin; granddaughter, Emily Awtrey of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Loretta LaMonica of San Antonio; brother, Richard LaMonica of New York; sister-in-law, Yvonne Herkey of Florida; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Anthony LaMonica.
Pallbearers will be Phillip LaMonica, Todd Koonce, Kenneth Awtrey, Scott Awtrey, Jessie Bonner and Ricky Harrison.
