Funeral services for Michael Andrew Bennett, 46, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Kevin Poage and Reverend Clayton McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Bennett was born December 14, 1964 in Oscoda, Michigan; and he died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his residence following a long battle with diabetes.
Michael loved the Lord and accepted Him as his Lord and Saviour. When in Temple, he attended Temple Bible Church and enjoyed the Men?s Breakfast and Bible Study. He attended Clawson Assembly of God when in Lufkin. Mike loved his family, loved to fish, and especially loved his little grandson.
Michael grew up living in several states with his dad in the Air Force. He especially liked Alaska. He had lived in Lufkin for 24 years, and worked for Brookshire Brothers for about 10 years before moving to Temple, Texas, where he worked for Pactiv Corporation for the last three years.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Alexander Bennett of Shaw AFB, Sumpter, South Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Jon Ellis of Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas; grandson, Roman Ellis; his parents, James E. and Norma Jean (Baty) Bennett of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Preston Keith and Dawn Bennett of Jonesville, South Carolina, and Jesse and Jamie Bennett of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Sabrina and John Kendrick of Lufkin; grandmother, Farah Baty of Lufkin; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by grandparents, W.T. Baty, E.H. and Essie Bennett; uncles, Wayne Baty and Jerry Bennett; and aunts, Cletha Dickerson and Helen Palmore.
Pallbearers will be Melvin McAdams, Randall Palmore, Jay Bennett, Jason Dickerson, Mark Lewis, Dustin Watson and Lawayne Siegert.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2400 Augusta Dr., Suite 175, Houston, Texas 77057.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
