Doyle Preston King

Funeral services for Doyle Preston ""Pete"" King, 74, of Nogalus Prairie will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Lanny Parrish and Pat Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Bennett Cemetery.

Mr. King was born April 20, 1937 in the Nogalus Prairie Community, Trinity County, Texas to the late Annie Bell (Davis) and R F King, and died Monday, June 6, 2011 in a local hospital. He resided in Lufkin most of his life and retired from Champion International following 32 years of service. He was a member of the Centralia Church of Christ.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Cindy Bridges of Hudson and Tammy and Arthur Hernandez of San Antonio; sons and daughter-in-law, Keith and Debbie King of Apple Springs and Terry King of Groveton; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Sue and Roy Wright of Nogalus Prairie and Jolene and Ronnie Alsbrooks of Hudson; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Kendrick King.

Pallbearers will be Scott Bridges, Travis King, Justin Crooms, Daniel Murray, Mike Davis, Trey Purvis, Curtis Pullin, Russell Rivers and Rudy Fuentes.

The family extends special thanks to Wright Choice Home Health for the care given to Mr. King.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
