Joseph Bryn Rhodes

Funeral services for Joseph Bryn ""J.B."" Rhodes, Jr., 72, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend R.G. ""Bud"" Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Rhodes was born June 17, 1938 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Jessie (Hyde) and Joseph Bryn Rhodes, Sr., and died Saturday, June 11, 2011 in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. Mr. Rhodes was in the U.S. Army and worked at the Champion Paper Mill for 44 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and shopping at Walmart, Sam?s and Academy. Mr. Rhodes was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Rhodes of Lufkin; children, Cindy Rhodes, Joseph Rhodes III and wife Misty, serving in the U.S. Army in Fort Hood; Roger Grimes of Lufkin; and Randy Grimes and wife Lori of Houston; stepchildren, Cyndi Sawyer and Johanna Sawyer, both of Lufkin; grandchildren, Justin Grimes of Dallas, Miranda Hightower and husband Ryan of Lufkin, Tony Grimes and wife CC, serving in the U.S. Navy in California, Michael Grimes, Melissa Grimes, both of Houston, Patrick Rhodes and Abygail Rhodes, both of Fort Hood; step-grandchildren, Analisha Joiner of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Brianna Parrish of Lufkin, Colby Day of Huntington and Seth Penton of Onalaska; and great-grandchildren, Mason Loving, Austin Loving, Hunter Hightower, all of Lufkin and Peyton Grimes of California.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora LaNell Rhodes.

Pallbearers will be Tom Berry, T. Wayne Montes, James McCauley, Dwayne McCauley, Ryan Hightower and Mike Boyd.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
