Private memorial services for Joyce Berry Pinner, 81, of Lufkin, will be held in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Carol Petty, a family friend, officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Ms. Pinner was born August 26, 1929 in the Platt Community in Angelina County, Texas to the late Alice Mae (Brenke) and Robert Kester Berry. She died Saturday, June 18, 2011 in a Houston hospital.
""Mema"" was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cousin. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin. She graduated from Lufkin High School in 1946. Ms. Pinner was retired from General Motors following 31 years of service. She loved spending time with family and friends, and walking with her friends at the mall. She was an avid ""42"" player at the Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Cheryl Pinner of Kingwood; daughter, Cheryl Ellis of Katy; daughter and son-in-law, Berry and Philip Elmore of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Rex Berry of Lufkin; and her beloved uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box 78960, Phoenix, Arizona 85062.
