Funeral services for Mary E. Hayes, 66, of Henderson will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Gerald Pepper officiating. Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery in Huntington, Texas.
Mrs. Hayes was born September 26, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Myrtle (Jones) and Fred Coward, and died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at her residence.
A former resident of Lufkin, Mrs. Hayes had lived in Henderson for 10 years. She was very family oriented, loved her husband, children and grandchildren dearly. She loved to fish off the pier, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play their sports. Mrs. Hayes was an active member of the Glenfawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, David Hayes of Henderson; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Susan Hayes of Lufkin and Kenneth Hayes of Henderson; daughter and son-in-law, Christi and Glenn Brister of Apple Springs; grandchildren, Charles Kenneth ôC.K.ö Hayes, Cody Brister and Jaci Brister; sister, Merle Coward of Sugarland; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Cody Brister, Charles Kenneth ôC.K.ö Hayes, Larry Arnold, Norman Green, Charlie Brent and Larry Turner.
Honorary pallbearer will be Dean Risinger.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
