Daris Jean Odom

Funeral services for Daris Jean Odom, 82, of Pollok will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Joe Carriere officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mrs. Odom was born January 14, 1929 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Sadie Elma (Largent) and Wesley F. Jones, and died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in a local hospital.

A former resident of Houston, Mrs. Odom had resided in Pollok for 20 years. She owned and operated Rocket Cleaners in Houston for many years. Mrs. Odom was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Huntington Chapter #938. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, reading and gardening. Mrs. Odom was a member of Pollok Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresia Driver of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Zackary Lance and Robbie Odom of Houston; grandchildren, Zackary Odom and wife Brenna of Houston, Thomas Driver and wife Patty of Rowlett and Tammy Walker and husband Wayne of Pollok; great-grandchildren, Angel, Alex, Andy, Adri, Avery, A.J. and Abigail; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Odom; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Vickie Odom; son-in-law, James Driver; and sister, Bernice Lucas.

Pallbearers will be Zackary Odom, Andy Walker, Alex Walker, Greg Largent, Ryan Largent, Trent McCaa and Patrick Largent.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
