Graveside services for Edith Odessa Allen, 91, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Gann Cemetery with Reverend M. Kelly Ward officiating.
Mrs. Allen was born February 1, 1920 in Blue, Texas to the late Lillie (Stanford) and John Frank Turner, and died Thursday, June 30, 2011 in a local nursing home. She had resided in Lufkin since 1945. Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Jim Seitz of Mandeville, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Becky Barrett Alford of Wimberley; granddaughters and husbands, Alisa and Kelly Ward, Tanya Alford, Cristin and Dr. John Kiburz, and Celeste and Michael Davis; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, J.D. Turner of Lexington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Cleatus Eddie Allen; brothers, O?Brien Turner, Bemus Turner and Charles Turner; sister, Frankie Poldrack; and great grandson, Mathew Kensington Ward.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 South Medford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901; or to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1320 South John Redditt, Suite A, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
