Memorial services for Joseph P. Kartye, Sr., 96, of Lufkin will be held Friday, July 22, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Cyprian?s Episcopal Church with Reverend Art Callaham officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Kartye was born November 1, 1914 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Josephine (Nedved) and Peter Anton Kartye, and died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Kartye moved to Lufkin from St. Louis, Missouri, one of the original group that established Texas Foundries. He retired following 41 years as Superintendent of the Malleable Division. Mr. Kartye was a member of St. Cyprian?s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Joseph, Jr. and Paula Kartye and Mike and Martha Kartye, all of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Kelly Kartye, Tracy and Bill Shockney, Clay and Susanna Kartye, Jeannie and Bill Williams, Janis and Dom Owens, Shaun Strube, Jason and Melinda Kartye, Brenton and Heather Kartye, Mia and Tracy LaRock, Nina and Brad Williams, Angela and Brent Tubbs, and Julie Lewis; great-grandchildren, Reed and Jared Kartye, Nina and Ben Shockney, Paul Joseph Kartye, Justin, Kaci and Ty Williams, Kade and Shelby Owens, McKenzie Strube, Jace and Kye Kartye, Jonathon Buschman, Christopher, Alexis and Emily Williams, David and Ethan LaRock, Allen, Madeline and James Lewis; and brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Denise Kartye of St. Louis, Missouri.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kartye was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Kartye; and sister, Elizabeth Masotti.
