Funeral services for Kay Donna Lamar, 71, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Keith Woolf officiating, with private interment following.

Mrs. Lamar was born February 17, 1940 in Bennington, Oklahoma to the late Oma (Paty) and R.D. Medell, and died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at her residence. She had resided in Lufkin since 1977 and retired from Walmart. Mrs. Lamar was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Earnest Lamar of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Merry Lamar of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Ron Payne of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Kara Lamar and Kaleb Lamar, both of Alto; sisters, Jackie Grounds of Bennington, Oklahoma, Lou Mitchell of Durant, Oklahoma, Sue Gleason of Dallas and Mickey Durant of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers, Bob Rich, Jabo Rich, both of Dallas and Charles Rich of Durant, Oklahoma; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lamar was preceded in death by her stepmother, Bertha Medell; and granddaughter, Heather Selman.

Pallbearers will be Jarred Grumbles, Keith Lamar, Gene Craig, Ted McComber, Mearl Lamar and Larry Parten.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
