Marvin C. Freeman

Funeral services for Marvin C. Freeman, 72, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack Lee officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Steel Grove Cemetery near Colmesneil in Tyler County.
Mr. Freeman was born August 27, 1938 in Colmesneil, Texas to the late Gertie E. (Flowers) and Tommy Lee Freeman, and died Thursday, August 11, 2011 in a Tyler hospital.
Mr. Freeman had resided in Lufkin for 41 years. He retired from Lufkin Industries following 29 years of service. Mr. Freeman enjoyed coin collecting and music, and loved being around his children and grandchildren. He attended Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Freeman was very proud of his son, Cpl. Nathan Eric Freeman, a U.S. Marine who had served in Iraq.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Freeman of Lufkin; sons and daughter-in-law, Jason and Carrie Freeman of Anacoco, Louisiana, Cpl. Nathan Eric Freeman and Ryan A. Freeman, both of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Marla and Jeremy Dunn and Amy Nicole Freeman and special friend Jeff Strong, all of Hudson; grandchildren, Shaw Dunn, Taylor Dunn, Kristen Dunn, all of Hudson, Sara Warford of Anacoco, Louisiana, Hayden Freeman and Holden Freeman, both of Lufkin; sisters and brother-in-law, Marie Brooks of Rockland and Eunice and Alton McAlester of Woodville; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady, Lloyd and Billy Freeman.
Pallbearers will be Cpl. Nathan Eric Freeman, Jeff Strong, Rimero DeLeon, Brian McFayden, Matt Marshall, Raymond Murillo and Hollis McAlester.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Dunn and Taylor Dunn.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1615 Tulane Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901 or the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
