Eric Mettlen

Funeral services for Eric Mettlen, 47, of Diboll, will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Diboll with Brother Jerry Young and Brother Myrton Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Mettlen was born July 6, 1964 in Lufkin, Texas; and he passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Mettlen had lived in Diboll most of his life. He was a song writer and singer, and loved music. Mr. Mettlen also enjoyed spending time with Buddy, his dog.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Mettlen of Diboll; sons and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Jennifer Harris of Hudson, Jim Mettlen of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Madison, MacKenzie, Alexandra and Abi; parents, Charles, Sr., and Wanda Mettlen of Diboll; brothers and sister-in-law, Charles, Jr., and Michele Mettlen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Daniel Mettlen and fiancée Melissa Cole of Diboll; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Richard Wagner of St. Charles, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Meagan, Sara, Kristin, Cory, Ashlyn and Drew; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Shirley Harris of Diboll; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Mettlen was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Mettlen, and cousins, James Landrum and Richard Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Louis Hearren, Rodney Hearren, Ronnie Hearren, Andrew Parish, Jon Cannon and Jody Cannon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Hamilton, Lonnie Kilgore and Daniel Mettlen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
