Bennie B. (Allen) Davis

Funeral services for Bennie B. (Allen) Davis, 99, of Lufkin will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin with Reverend Billy Stanley, Reverend B.H. McCoy and Reverend Karl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis was born November 19, 1911 in the Allentown Community, Angelina County, Texas to the late Mattie (Phelps) and Charlie Allen, and died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Davis was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She was a homemaker, and a charter member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin.

Survivors include her children, Martha Modisette and husband Charles of Lufkin, Winnie Tomplait and husband Glenn of Allentown, Reverend R.G. ""Bud"" Davis and wife Maxine of Lufkin, Bettie Powell and husband Joe of Central, Shirlene Kelsey and husband Reagan of Allentown and Gloria King and husband Tracy of Navasota; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Parker of Allentown; and number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend R.G. Davis, Sr.; daughter, Jerry Lynn Davis; daughters and sons-in-law, Glennie and Reverend H.O. Luce, Reverend Roy Miller, and Wanda and Robert Towns; and sons-in-law, Reverend T.E. Swan and Reverend Robert ""Butch"" Allen.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Davis' grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin.

The family extends special thanks to Mrs. Davis' caregivers, Grace Varnado, Betty Oliver, Brenda Jones, DeeAnn Cain, Linda Dorez, Vena Helen Granger, Ira Crawford and Shala.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin.
