Memorial services for Walter Lee Hill, 95, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the PineCrest Retirement Community Chapel with Pastor Lamar Denby officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Hill was born June 15, 1916 in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Annie Lee (Dunn) and Ernest H. Hill, and died Monday, August 29, 2011 at his PineCrest residence. He had resided in Lufkin for 38 years. Mr. Hill served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1941 to 1945, and was a Terminal Manager in the trucking industry for 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jonnie Hill and Mackie and Nikki Hill, all of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Kitty and Mike Brower of Gracemont, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Robert Shilling, Tim Shilling, Rick Hill, Clint Brower, Jason Brower, Tyler Hill and Coby Hill; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years and the mother of his children, Hazel McConnell Hill; second wife of 30 years, Audrey Hill; daughter, Sue Shilling; and great-grandson, Rob Shilling.
