Vada Lansford

Funeral services for Vada ?Ozell? Buckner Lansford, 79, of Huntington will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Keith Rose and Brother Adrian Neal officiating. Interment will follow in the Herrington Cemetery.

Mrs. Lansford was born May 9, 1932 in Huntington, Texas to the late Doddie (Rhodes) and Isaac Buckner, and died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at her residence. She was a lifetime resident of Huntington and was a Nurses? Aide at Angelina Nursing Home for 16 years. Mrs. Lansford was a member of the Ora Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur W. and Donna G. Miles of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Nona and Billy Stanley of Huntington; grandchildren, Jason McGaughey, Megan Stanley, Nathan Miles, Stephanie Broussard, Candice Whittemore and Doddie Yates; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Buckner of Silsbee and Oscar Buckner of Huntington; sister, Geraldine Nerren of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lansford was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Lansford; grandson, Kenneth W. McGaughey; brothers, Wayne Buckner and Jurl Buckner; and sisters, Estelle Steele and Merle Lee Buckner.

Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Buckner, Isaac Nerren, Robert Nerren, Ernie Nerren, Oscar Buckner, Jr. and Damon Buckner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Brooks, David Cryer and C.A. Gibson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
