Graveside services for Kenneth L. Gray, 75, of the Saron Community, will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cameron Cemetery with Brother Elton Musick officiating.
Brother Gray was born March 3, 1936 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Bessie (Newberry) and Edmond Gray. He died Sunday, July 17, 2011 in a Huntington nursing facility.
Brother Gray had resided in the Saron Community of Angelina County for the past 26 years, and was a former resident of Diboll. He served 35 years as the pastor for several area churches, including three years at the Diboll Missionary Baptist Church. He was currently a member of the Ozias Missionary Baptist Church. Brother Gray liked to garden, and had also worked as a pasture rider.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Jay Jackson of Lufkin, Tracy and James Brown of Lufkin, and Jeanna and Clifton Courtney of Zavalla; grandchildren, Michael Jackson and wife Heather of Lufkin, Korri Robertson and husband Myles of Abilene, Sarah Jackson of Lufkin, Jordan Courtney and Hannah Courtney, both of Zavalla; four great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, C.B. and Joyce Gray of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Helen Louise and Glenn Nerren of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat Gray; and his daughter, Debra Gray.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Jackson, Jordan Courtney, Myles Robertson and Mark Gray.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cameron Cemetery Association in care of Betty Courtney, 502 Polly Branch Road, Zavalla, Texas 75980.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
