Funeral services for W T Thomas, 95, of Huntington will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Huntington First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Smith and Reverend Sam Thomas officiating. Masonic services will be held under the auspices of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park

Mr. Thomas was born March 2, 1916 in Huntington, Texas to the late Sara Catherine (Driver) and Henry Samuel Thomas, Sr. A beautiful angel escorted him to his new home in Heaven Tuesday, July 26, 2011.

Mr. Thomas lived in Huntington for the first 45 years of his life, after which he moved to Lufkin. He resided in Lufkin until five years ago, at which time he moved to Huntington, where he lived until he passed away. Mr. Thomas was a World War II veteran, serving in the 47th Construction Battalion of the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was the co-owner of Thomas and Thompson Construction Company for 30+ years. Thomas and Thompson completed many large projects in the state of Texas. Some of the better known projects include the library and gymnasium at Huntington, the Lufkin National Bank building, the Angelina County courthouse annex in Lufkin, and many other bank and education facilities throughout the state.

Mr. Thomas served faithfully at Lufkin?s First Baptist Church for many years, and more recently served as a member of Huntington First Baptist Church. For over 60 years he was a member of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M. He was also a Shriner, York Rite Mason and Eastern Star Member. Mr. Thomas served as a director on the board of Huntington State Bank.

Survivors include his wife of seven years, Sadie Lou Thomas of Huntington; stepson, Mike Green and wife Marjane of League City; grandchildren, Kevin Green of Huntington, Jason Green of Lake Jackson, Matthew Green of Clarksville, Tennessee, Darren Green, Christopher Green and Kayla Green, all of League City; brother, Samuel Thomas of Huntington; nephew, Mitchell B. LeMoine and wife Wanda; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his stepson, Billy Green; brother, Boley Thomas; and sister, Isabelle LeMoine.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Green, Darren Green, Chris Green, Brad Loser, Doyle Thornton and Darrell Bryan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Masons of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to Huntington First Baptist Church, 702 North Main Street, Huntington, Texas 75949 or Affinity Hospice, 4000 South Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
