Allen Apshire

Funeral services for Allen F. Apshire, 81, of Huntington, will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Reverend M.H. Shubert officiating. Committal services will follow at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Bracken Cemetery near Honey Island.
Mr. Apshire was born December 16, 1929 in Woodville, Texas to the late Agnes (Haynes) and John H. Apshire. He died Saturday, August 13, 2011, in a Livingston nursing facility.
Mr. Apshire had resided in Huntington for the past two years, and previously lived in Vidor for 29 years. He was retired from the City of Nederland. Mr. Apshire was a United States Army veteran, and a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church of Huntington.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Marc Witherspoon of Livingston, Donna and Curtis Wilson of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Robbie Apshire of Lufkin, Randy and Shannon Apshire of Sandia, Texas; grandchildren, Michael, Ina Jo, Brandi, Curtis Jr., Wanda and Stephanie; eleven great grandchildren; and former wife and special friend, Allie Marcum of Livingston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and former wives, Anita Apshire and Florence Apshire.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
