Funeral services for Thelma M. Carrell, 89, of Huntington, will be held Monday, March 12, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Adrian Neal and Brother Tommy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery.
Mrs. Carrell was born April 5, 1922 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Stella (Snowden) and Randolph Forrest. She died Friday, March 9, 2012, in a Huntington nursing facility.
Mrs. Carrell had resided in Huntington for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She also had worked as a cook in schools and nursing homes for 20 years. Mrs. Carrell loved to sing and to listen to music. She enjoyed being with her friends and being in the outdoors. She loved being a part of her family's vacations, especially in Colorado. Mrs. Carrell was a member and Sunday school teacher at Oak Flat Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Harriet Carrell of Whitney, Texas; granddaughters and their husbands, Holly and Jim Moore of Austin, Cherie and Roderick Thomas of Dallas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hosea and Virginia Forrest of Huntington, Wayne and Barbara Forrest of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Frank Giese of Brazoria; as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Floyd Carrell.
Pallbearers will be Ed Snelson, Marvin Hale, David Lindstrom, Ed Few, Jim Moore, Sherman Casper and Roderick Thomas.
Honorary pallbearer will be J.C. Boone.
Memorial contributions may be made to Building Fund at Oak Flat Missionary Baptist Church, 3447 FM 2109, Huntington, Texas 75949.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home in Huntington.
