Funeral services for Wayne Stewart, 71, of Huntington will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.
Mr. Stewart was born April 11, 1941 in Freeport, Texas to the late Norman Jeff and Hazel (Brown) Stewart, and died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mr. Stewart resided in Huntington most of his life. He was with the Ironworkers Union #841 in Houston for many years. Mr. Stewart was a Mason with the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M., and attended the Highway Baptist Church in Huntington.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Lesa and Steve Vann of Pollok and Nena Vining of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Tammie Stewart and Derrick and Susan Stewart, all of Huntington; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Delores Stewart of Waco; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Allyn Runnels Stewart on December 20, 1999.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Wayne Walker, Don Scogin, Buddy Smith, Jimmy Crum, Mike Runnels and Kevin Williams.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
