Rick Wilson

Funeral services for Rick Wilson, 70, of Huntington will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Joe Saffle officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson was born October 25, 1941 in Mount Vernon, Texas to John Verlon and Marie (Carr) Wilson, and died Saturday, September 29, 2012 in a local nursing home. He served in the U.S. Army, and was Police Chief of the Huntington Police Department from 1985 to 2000. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Huntington First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Chad K. and Monica Wilson of Huntington and David R. Wilson of Mart; daughter, Deirdre Gonzalez of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kyle L. Wilson, Blane M. Wilson, Grant Wilson, Scott Harper, Tiffany Layton, David Antley and Kristy Manzano; six great-grandchildren; mother, Marie Wilson of Clawson; brothers, Kenneth Wilson, Jackie Wilson, Ernest Wilson, all of Lufkin, and Woodrow Wilson of Paris; sister, Donna Preston of Diboll; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Verlon Wilson; wife, Catherine Lee (Steward) Wilson; daughter, Lisa Figueroa; and brothers, John Ray Wilson and William Earl Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Wilson, Robert Loggins, Craig Hudnall, Billy Jack Russell, Eddie Mathews and Lester Golden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Carnley and Kenneth Wilson, Jr.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Lenin Pinnamaneni and the staff of Affinity Hospice for their excellent care of Mr. Wilson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
