Carl Havard

Funeral services for Carl Havard, 85, of Shawnee Prairie, will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment and Masonic rites will follow in the Poland Cemetery.

Mr. Havard was born April 8, 1927 in Old Manning, Angelina County, Texas, the oldest of eight children, to the late Julia (Olds) and I.D. Havard. He died Saturday, January 26, 2013, in a Huntington nursing facility.

Mr. Havard had resided in Shawnee Prairie all his life. He was a retired millwright for Louisiana Pacific. He was a member of Shawnee Prairie Baptist Church and the Angelina Masonic Lodge #1263, A.F. & A.M. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Havard loved to hunt and fish. He adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed swapping stories with the ""old timers,"" and he was a friend to anyone he met.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jimmie Nerren Havard of Shawnee Prairie; sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Beverly Havard of Huntington, Bob Havard of Shawnee Prairie, and Larry K. Havard of Huntington; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother, C.J. Havard of Huntington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and five sisters.

Pallbearers will be Bryce Vines, Casey Vines, Richard Havard, Ryan Havard, Gunner Havard, Marvin Sullivan, Cory Hines and Spencer Hines.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shawnee Prairie Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1480, Huntington, Texas 75949.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
