Funeral services for William E. Moore, 81, of Huffman, formerly of Pollok, will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Karen Norton officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Walker Cemetery under the auspices of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Moore was born November 29, 1938 in Wells, Texas to the late Nola Bell (Cheatom) and William Henry Moore, and died Sunday, June 28, 2020 at his residence.
A longtime resident of Pollok, Mr. Moore had resided in Huffman for eight years. He retired from Brown & Root Offshore Marine following 18 years of employment as a welder. Mr. Moore was a member and past Master of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M. He was an avid gun collector and hunter and a fan of the Houston Astros, NASCAR, and President Trump. He was a “NASCAR driver” before it was legal - his sister Reba paid his tickets. Mr. Moore was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Jackson) Moore of Huffman; daughters and son-in-law, Tracie Moore of Montgomery, Teresa and Marvin Sikes of Huffman; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas, Sr. and Pam Moore of Houston; grandchildren and spouses, Carrie Moore and Allen Louis of Houston, Brandy and Troy Sample of Huffman, Trinity Dickinson of Spring, Thomas, Jr. and Heather Moore of Alachua, Florida, Josh and Ashley Moore of Waco, Scott and Penny Sikes of Huffman, Eric, Jr. and Christina Dickinson of Spring, Casey Brooks, Christian and Jordan Dickinson, all of New Waverly, and Jackson Dickinson of Montgomery; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Georgia Clifton and Virgil Smith and Reba Hutson, all of Lufkin; brother-in-law, Jerry Jackson of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael Ray Moore and James Henry Moore; sister, Laverne Osburn; and brother-in-law, W.Z. Hutson.
Pallbearers will be Victor Matteson, Scott Sikes, Marvin Sikes, Eric Dickinson, Jr., Troy Sample, and Josh Moore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 2030 N. Loop West, Suite 250, Houston, Texas 77018.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
