Funeral services for Wanda Brown Black, 90, of Hudson will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cindy Doran officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.
Mrs. Black was born December 20, 1926 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Hazel (Evans) and Eddie T. Brown, and died Friday, October 27, 2017 in Sugar Land.
Mrs. Black had resided in the Lufkin area most of her life. She was the receptionist at Angelina College for 15 years. She enjoyed sewing, yard work, and bird watching. And she loved spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Black was a former member of the Eastern Star. She was a member and actively involved in Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John R. Black of Hudson; daughters, Donna Dixon and husband Ray of Missouri City and Sandra Poindexter and husband Don of New Braunfels; son, Michael Beasley and wife Claudia of Katy; grandchildren, David Poindexter, Kenneth Poindexter, Matthew Beasley, and Allyson Silver; great-grandchildren, Jace Poindexter, Rachel Stewart-Poindexter, and Kenlie Poindexter; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harvey Ray Brown.
Pallbearers will be her family.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
