Richard Boyd Hetherington

Funeral services for Richard Boyd Hetherington, 77, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Poage and Pastor Josh Poage officiating. Interment will follow in the Conner Cemetery in Houston County.

Mr. Hetherington was born February 19, 1947 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the late Mozelle Roxie (Boyd) and Richard  Eugene Hetherington, and died Monday, November 18, 2024 in a local hospital.

Richard had resided in Lufkin for over 30 years and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Postman for 11 years. He played football for The University of Oklahoma from ’66-’69. He was excellent at carpentry. Richard was a member of Clawson Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Karen Ann (Conner) Hetherington of Lufkin; children, Kim Nelson, Jason Hetherington, Andrea Shepherd, Shannon Lowe, Buck Lowe, Brad Lowe; grandchildren, Wesley Barrett, Clay Penny, Kayce Fowler, Merrik Hetherington, Tyler Hetherington, Michael Lowe, Jeremy Lowe, Layna Barkey,  Braylin Barkey, Ryan Lowe, Brandon Lowe, Austin Lowe, Ashlyn Lowe, Rebecca Starke; numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Sharron Jones, Jerry Brown, Beverly Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Brett Badeaux, David Saxon, Michael Lowe, Jeremy Lowe, Tristen Woods, and Sheldon Johnson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
