Lillian Gladys Hughes

October 5, 1946 — December 13, 2021

Lillian Gladys Hughes, 75, of Lufkin went to be with the Lord Monday, December 13, 2021.

Mrs. Hughes was born October 5, 1946 in Houston, Texas to the late Lillian May (Kent) and Albert Hegmann. A loving soul undaunted by the skepticism of the world, Gladys always shared her exuberance, and was an enrichment to the lives of those around her. As an ordained Christian minister, she loved learning and sharing the gospel at home and abroad on mission trips. She had a deep appreciation for the greatness of nature and God’s creation, and an unfaltering desire to witness it first-hand. She was loved dearly and will be missed.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, John Hughes of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steven Buelow of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Micah and Jessica Hughes of Madera, Pennsylvania, Zach and Leah Thompson of Garland, and Daniel Hughes of Houston; grandchildren, J.C. and wife Stephanie Oates, Dalton Oates, Nick, Joe, and Lily Hughes, Azure Hughes, and Connor Brown; great-grandchildren, Liam, Charlie and Evie Oates; brother, Jacob Hegmann of Houston; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She goes to be with her parents and sister, Mary Lou Troy.
