Cathy Ann Bradley Carr

Funeral services for Cathy (Bradley) Carr, 60, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin with Dr. Jerome Brimmage and Pastor Mark Newton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Carr was born February 28, 1956 in Lufkin, Texas to LaJune Ivy Bradley and the late Robert Franklin “Buck” Bradley, Jr. She died Sunday, January 8, 2017 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mrs. Carr was a retired teacher for the Lufkin I.S.D., following 35 years of service and many years at Trout Elementary, Brookhollow Elementary, Lufkin Middle School, and lastly at Coston Elementary. She also taught in the Jasper I.S.D. for a few years at the start of her career. She loved teaching and tutoring. Mrs. Carr was also a devoted wife and caretaker of her husband. She was a lifetime member of Lufkin’s First United Methodist Church and played in their Hand Bell Choir for many years. Above all, she was a loving daughter, mother, and “GranC” to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Carr of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jason R. and Beth Walker Carr of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Gustavo E. Monsante of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kristen Carr, Kade Carr, Liliana Monsante, and Kyle Carr, all of Lufkin; mother, LaJune Bradley of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy and Carol Bradley of Lufkin, Rick and Cindy Bradley of The Woodlands; sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Blake Latson of McKinney; brother and sister-in-law, David and Emily Bradley of Richmond; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Connie Carr of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, R.F. “Buck” Bradley, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Randy Bradley, Rick Bradley, David Bradley, Robert Carr, Blake Latson, and Pat Nicholson.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Ivy, Jack Ivy, Bob Flint, and Mike Bell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Houston Ear Research Foundation, 7737 Southwest Freeway #630, Houston, Texas 77074; to the National Stroke Association, 9707 E. Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, Colorado 80112; or to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
