Jeanette Courtenay, 91, of Lufkin, died Friday, August 10, 2012 in a Lufkin nursing facility. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mrs. Courtenay was born June 13, 1921 in Greenport, New York to the late Mae (Montgomery) and Louie Monsell Bubb. She had lived in Lufkin for the past 46 years. Mrs. Courtenay was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She had been a volunteer at Memorial Hospital since 1980, serving at the popcorn stand. Mrs. Courtenay was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lufkin.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, John H. Courtenay of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Rick Olds of Nacogdoches; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Carol Courtenay of Rolla, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Roy Smith of Fort Lupton, Colorado; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Bubb of Naples, Florida; and brother-in-law, Walter Courtenay of Vestal, New York.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Volunteer Scholarship Fund, 1201 West Frank, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
