Dessie Marie Hooper Knight

Funeral services for Dessie Marie Hooper Knight, 73, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Elzy Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Knight was born April 11, 1937 in Center, Texas to Vernice (Gipson) and Carter Hooper, and died Sunday, April 10, 2011 in a local hospital. She had resided in Lufkin most of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Knight loved to paint and play the piano, and she loved God. She was a member of the Wallace Chapel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Billy Knight of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Lee Adams of Pollok; daughter, Lois Stokley of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Barbara Knight of Huntington; grandchildren, Bryan Adams of Pollok, Tiffany Knight of Round Rock, Albert Stokley of Birmingham, Alabama, Angela Williams, Daniel Knight, Chris Knight and wife Ashley, all of Lufkin, Shelbi Knight of San Marcos, Adam Stepherson, Jacob Justus and Shelby Justus, all of Huntington; great-granddaughter, Destiny Williams of Lufkin; brothers and sister-in-law, Travis Hooper of Huntington and Verlon and Thelma Hooper of Center; sisters, Essie Soape and Vivian Luman, both of Aiken; brother-in-law, J.W. Knight of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Opal Satterwhite of Nacogdoches; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris Knight, Bryan Adams, Albert Stokley, Daniel Knight, Jacob Justus and Adam Stepherson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
