Mary L. Rains Williams

Graveside services for Mary L. Rains Williams, 69, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the White Rock Cemetery in Shelby County with Brother David Merritt and Michael Jones officiating.

Mrs. Williams was born November 2, 1948 in Center, Texas to the late Delvin (Parrish) and L.C. Rains, and died Sunday, September 23, 2018 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Williams was a country girl who was raised on the Attoyac River in Shelby County in her early years. She had resided in Lufkin for 51 years. Mrs. Williams was known as an excellent seamstress who enjoyed cooking, as well as any outdoor activity such as camping and fishing. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Roy Williams of Lufkin; son, Billy Ferguson of Lufkin; daughter, Tammy Harrison of Nacogdoches; sisters and brother-in-law, Martha and J.W. Watson of Bald Hill, Clara Oden and Lisha Hammock, both of Huntington; brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Peggy Rains of Huntington; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Williams; and sisters, Debra Murphey and Linda Robinson.

Pallbearers will be Frank Green, Charlie Mann, William Seale, Michael Jones, Earl Lucky, and Luther Rains.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
