Margaret Alice Reese

Funeral services for Margaret Alice (McClendon) Reese, 71, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tony Holder officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery. Mrs. Reese was born February 21, 1946 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Ola (Havard) and Eli McClendon, and died Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Lufkin. Mrs. Reese had resided in Lufkin for most of her life. She loved her job as the Food Service Manager at St. Cyprian’s Episcopal School where she worked for over 15 years. She was a two-time State Champion Archer and she had a passion for raising and showing English Bulldogs. She was of the Assembly of God faith. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, John Buford Reese of Hudson; daughters, Alice Henning and husband Jerry of Springfield, Illinois, and Elizabeth “Liz” Burrous and husband Johnny of Hudson; sons, Floyd Reese of Conroe, and Roger Reese of Lufkin; daughter, Donna Smith of Hudson; son, Jonathan Reese and wife Angela of Hudson; daughter, Amythea Reese of Lufkin; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward McClendon and wife Marilyn of Brazoria; sister-in-law, Marion Gipson of Baytown; father-in-law, Red Young of Baytown; brothers-in-law, Grady Reese of Lufkin and Bobby Reese of Alto; sister-in-law, Joyce Reese of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Billie Jean Reynolds. Pallbearers will be Tommy McFarland, Chris McFarland, Tony Aikens, Hunter Burrous, Hunter Reese, and Delbert Wayne Reynolds. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Adult Day Care Center, 305 Shands Drive, Lufkin, Texas, 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
