Jeanne Horn

Funeral services for Jeanne Horn, 85, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, March 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Bennett Cemetery near Apple Springs. Mrs. Horn was born June 26, 1931 in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of the late Winnie Amber (Pynes) and William H. Ferguson. She died Thursday, March 2, 2017 in a Lufkin nursing facility. Mrs. Horn was a retired retail manager for GNC following 17 years of service. She was always passionate about her job at GNC and loved all of her customers as much as they loved her. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lufkin Chapter #382. She was witty and had a great sense of humor. Mrs. Horn loved her girls and her great grandbabies, and her granddaughter said, “She was the best grandmother anyone could ever have because she always put me first.” She loved plants and had owned Green Thumb Nursery years ago. Mrs. Horn enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and loved to dance. She also loved her cats and dogs. She was a loyal and encouraging friend. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Horn Buster of Lufkin; daughter, Jeannie Horn Jones and husband David of Montgomery; granddaughter, Holly Heath Martin and husband Wayne of Meridian, Idaho; great grandsons, Tex Martin, Ryker Martin and Rogen Martin; and sister, Mirian May of Tyler. Mrs. Horn was preceded in death by parents; brother, William H. Ferguson, Jr.; and son-in-law, Joey Buster. Pallbearers will be David Jones, Wayne Martin, Gary Jones, David Skeeters, Daniel Jones, and Mike Lee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home.
