Graveside services for George Allen Barringer, Sr., 73, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Pastor Mark Wilke officiating.
Mr. Barringer was born October 10, 1942 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Bernice (Barnes) and Taft Barringer, Sr., and died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Barringer was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for J.E. Kingham Construction and L. Richardson & Sons as a construction supervisor for 40 years. His hobbies include fishing and hunting, wood-working, and gardening his lilies. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Selena and Terry Mitchell of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Sue Barringer of Lufkin; grandchildren, Todd Mitchell of Lufkin and Justin Mitchell and wife Callie of Baytown; sisters, Sarah Ann Morris of Diboll, Jessie Martines of Lufkin, Virginia Morrison and husband Jim of Etoile, and Dixie Barringer of Diboll; brothers, Taft Barringer, Jr. and wife Joycie and Danny Barringer, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Sandy Barringer and Mary Barringer, both of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn (Dixon) Barringer; son, Allen Barringer; and brothers, James Barringer and John Barringer.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
