Funeral services for Doris K. Black, 78, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Sonny Scarborough officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Monday in the Grandview Cemetery in Pasadena, Texas. Ms. Black was born January 18, 1936 in Pasadena, Texas, to the late Dorothy Mae (Simon) and Ottis M. Young, Sr. She died Friday, July 11, 2014 at her residence. Ms. Black was a retired truant officer for the Pasadena I.S.D. She lived most of her life in Pasadena and had resided in Lufkin for the past 11 years. Ms. Black loved to travel and was a talented still art painter. She was a member of Golden Acres United Methodist Church in Pasadena. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jack Rodney, Jr. and Margaret Hancock, Karan Godfrey, Jeff and Carla Hancock, and Jon and Regina Hancock; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ottis, Jr. and Joan Young, Melvin and Delories Young, and Philip and Carol Young; sisters and brother-in-law, Wynelle Clark, and Tricia and Mike Fullen; grandchildren, Heather Dusek, Matthew Hancock, Aaron Godfrey, Ryan Godfrey, Laura Hancock, Jeffrey Hancock, Jr., Jacklyn Hancock, and Jon Hancock, Jr.; her beloved dog, Bruno; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Matt Hancock, Gregg Young, Scott Young, Hugh Young, Keith Young, Justin Carnley, Howard Anderson, Jr. and Hal Wilcox.
