Joe L. "Weeboy" Goodwin

Funeral services for Joe L. "Wee Boy" Goodwin, 82, of Pollok will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Simpson Cemetery.

Mr. Goodwin was born October 14, 1930 in Pollok, Texas to George Luther and Nellie (Choate) Goodwin, and died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Pollok. Mr. Goodwin served in the U.S. Army and was a surveyor for Everett Griffith & Associates for more than 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and playing poker, dominoes and 42. He loved spending time with his family. Mr. Goodwin was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Goodwin of Pollok; daughters, Betty Jane Hendry and Barbara Jo Goodwin, both of Pollok; granddaughter, Veronica "Roni" Hendry of Pollok; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, W. N. Goodwin and G.L. Goodwin; and sisters, Susie Nell "Tincy" Goodwin Gregorcyk and Aline Goodwin James Burnett.

Pallbearers will be John Gregorcyk, Jimmy Gregorcyk, James Gregorcyk, Jerry Gregorcyk, Henry Burnett and George Burnett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe A. James, Frank James, Jerry Goodwin, Lewis Smith, Leroy Smith, Harold Oliver, Richard Hartless, Richard Hertler, and the other coffee drinkers and 42 players at Wells.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Sudheer Karnati and staff, Dr. V.A. Kevvali and staff, Dr. Abraham Cheriyan and staff, Affinity Hospice, and the staffs of the 2nd and 3rd floors at Woodland Heights.

Memorial contributions may be made to Affinity Hospice, 2708 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901, Humane Society of Angelina County, P.O. Box 472, Lufkin, Texas 75902, or a charity of your choice.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
