Funeral services for Hazel Fussell Springer Wilkerson, 89, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Clayton McClendon and Brother Kenny Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkerson was born July 24, 1921 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Louella (Parker) and Benjamin Franklin Fussell, and died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at her residence. She had resided in Lufkin most of her life and retired from the Lufkin State School. Mrs. Wilkerson attended the Lighthouse Church and was a member of The Church by Christ Jesus.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Louella and Jimmy Moseley of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Janie Springer of Lufkin; grandchildren, Sharon Marie Day and husband Douglas, Veronica Massey and husband John, all of Lufkin, Robbie Springer and wife Kayla of Apple Springs, Sabrina Hathorn of Lufkin, Rhonda Evans of Huntington, Lucas Springer and wife Diane, Cory Springer, all of Lufkin and Dillon Lee Springer of Conroe; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, J.B. Fussell of Boyd and Clyde Fussell of Lillian; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilkerson was preceded in death by her husbands, Renfro Wilkerson and Almer Elvie Springer; son, Murray David Springer; and grandson, Jerry Clayton ""Pete"" Springer.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Wilkerson's grandsons.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
