Vera Faye Bruce Hooper

Funeral services for Vera Faye Bruce Hooper, 72, of the Wakefield Community will be held Friday, December 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in the Wheeler Cemetery in the Wakefield Community.

Mrs. Hooper was born November 12, 1938 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Loraine (Helton) and Morris E. Bruce, and died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in a Houston hospital.

A former resident of the Keltys Community, Mrs. Hooper had resided in the Wakefield Community for 22 years. She retired from Bell Finance Co. Mrs. Hooper was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lufkin Chapter #382, and a member of Wakefield Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, John Wayne Hooper of Wakefield; daughter, Pamela Hooper of Huntington; grandchildren, Misty Gardner and Shannon Easterling; twin sister, Lora Griggs of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Alice Bruce of Texas City; sister-in-law, Bessie Andrews of Diboll; special friends, James and Joy Hines and Tracy Hendry, Sr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hooper was preceded in death by her son, John Wayne Hooper, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Morris Childers, Craig Childers, Gary Jenkins, James Hines, Tracy Hendry, Sr. and Gene Wheeler.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
